A Glimpse of the Job
The Communications Manager is responsible for managing communications internally and externally for the Division of Finance and Business Services. Reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations, and ensures quality, clarity, and brand compliance in all communications on behalf of the division leadership. The manager also supervises a small team who help with these responsibilities. This position serves as a central coordination point for departmental websites and other communication channels in the Division of Finance and Business Services ensuring a consistent voice and compliance with Texas A&M University requirements.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Manage Communications
Create and coordinate strategic communications on behalf of the Division of Finance and Business Services senior leadership.
Oversee the creation, monitoring, and updating of pages and postings.
Create and coordinate campus-wide and external communications from departments within the Division of Finance and Business Services.
Review and edit written materials, prepare presentations, and communicate with employees.
Create messaging to communicate priorities and impacts for internal and external constituents, stakeholders, employees, etc.
Edit and review all external communications to ensure quality, clarity and brand compliance.
Manage Websites
Oversee the updating and editing of content on the Division of Finance and Business Services member web pages.
Manage the team that reviews departmental web sites for current UX/UI.
Serve as central coordination point for departmental website content updates, refresh, and presentation.
Ensure a consistent voice for the division and each department and compliance with university requirements.
Events
Manage the team that serves as creative resource for formal invitations and announcements from division leadership.
Provide support for the creation of email, presentations, videos, speeches, social media and other forums for communicating messages for the division.
Supervision
Direct supervision of department employees including coaching, training, performance reviews, taking disciplinary action as needed and directing daily work.
Delegate work to free up time for more strategic planning.

Salary: $70,000 annually

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of related experience including two years of related supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with web design, photo editing, email platforms and managing site metrics.
Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or other related field.
Expertise and experience in providing advice and counsel to senior management on communications initiatives.
Six years of related experience including four years of related supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in MAESTRO, Cascade or similar Content Management System.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
