Job Description

The Project Director, Volunteer Programs, reports to the Associate Director of Community and Social Services of the Sanford Center for Aging (SCA) in the School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). Volunteer programs including: (1) the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) which is a community outreach project funded by grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service; (2) the Volunteer Mobility Program, which utilizes volunteers to provide rides for older adults funded by a grant from the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division; and, (3) the Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA), which uses VISTA members for community projects to Enhance Well-Being and Health Outcomes Among Older Adults in Washoe County funded by VISTA Americorp. The Project Director develops and implements services as described in the grant objectives, which are to provide community members an opportunity to support various community agencies and affords an applied setting for demonstration projects related to volunteerism and healthy aging.

The Project Director develops innovative programs that build on civic engagement; community services, administers programmatic aspects; ensures completion of all grant-related objectives; develops and monitors budgets and works closely with the SCA staff and the RSVP Advisory Council to direct and oversee yearly fund development activities; works with funding agencies to achieve program metrics and deliverables, and works closely with SCA faculty and staff to develop innovative demonstration projects and provide students with field and service learning experiences.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two years of related professional experience OR

Master's Degree and one year of related professional experience.

Related experience: Prior experience in volunteer services management and/or community program development/delivery setting or business/social service or education management.
