Netflix is looking for a Director to lead a publicity team for its original series and films in Mexico. We are looking for someone who is equipped, excited and an expert publicity strategist with an understanding of the different countries, cultures, and idiosyncrasies of the Latin American region. With great original series like Marvel’s Luke Cage, The Crown, Stranger Things, Black Mirror, 13 Reasons Why, La Casa De Las Flores, Luis Miguel, Narcos and films like Roma, Triple Frontier, Birdbox, Bright and more on the horizon, the Director of the team will be responsible for strategizing and executing innovative campaigns from top to bottom. The Director will help create, shape, execute and manage Mexico campaigns for series and films, adapting global strategies for the needs of their markets and making use of multiple earned media channels, including broadcast, print and online. They will focus on creating cultural moments and high impact campaigns, explore new tactics of promoting series, and will be able to communicate different facets of their campaigns to agencies and other audiences across Netflix. She/he will manage a team of 2 publicists, based in Mexico, who work with agencies in region (where applicable) to pitch media, secure opportunities and cover set visits or help plan and work junkets. He/she will serve as the expert on the market, able to convey cultural needs and nuances that impact the global campaign and work with talent both in front of and behind the camera. They can formulate and manage a budget, and give visibility into their process successfully. Pack your bag because travel is a requirement.
They will collaborate closely with our Content, Brand PR, Marketing, and Social teams to create big wins in the region. He/she will work in lockstep with the US originals publicity and film teams that handles the global strategies for aforementioned campaigns. He/she will also oversee publicity efforts for our growing slate of original series produced in Latin America, including Club de Cuervos, 3%, Ingobernable and more. This position will be part of the originals publicity leadership team, helping direct the activities of the department and determining overall strategy and budgeting, with input into awards, events, internal communications, talent relations and more.

The successful candidate for the role will likely possess 20+ years in studio or agency settings. Of particular interest are candidates with Broad knowledge of TV, international publicity, entertainment, pop culture and lifestyle trends, etc. in general and Latin America. Demonstrate the ability to think innovatively—connecting the dots when others cannot. Able to make the leap from information to insight. Able to identify, nurture and help refine compelling creative ideas and concepts. Takes risks and elevates work. Candidate needs to be a great writer and talker. Can organize, summarize, clarify and communicate ideas simply, succinctly and accurately. Has a quick intelligence, is fast on the feet and quickly responds to issues and questions with a candid approach. Doesn’t need to “check with the agency” on every issue or for every answer. An independent thinker willing and able to express and support a point of view.
Ability to speak/write in Spanish & English is essential.
