Job Description

The Diverse Talent Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategy and tactics aimed at building a diverse workplace.This leader will develop, lead and manage tactics and  initiatives aimed at attracting, developing and retaining U.S. Cellular’s management-level and director level pipeline.

  •  Develop and deliver U.S. Cellular diversity strategy tactics to  Improve the company’s effectiveness in developing and retaining key talent.
  • Coach leaders in tactics and practices that demonstrate U.S. Cellular’s Employer Value Proposition and attract diverse talent.   Coach leaders and managers in inclusive leadership practices aimed at retaining diverse talent.
  •  Work closely with the Program Manager, D&( and Affinity Resource Groups to create talent retention tactics and deliver development activities for Affinity Resource Group members.  Leverage Affinity Resource  Groups and U.S. Cellular’s referral program to build talent pools.
  •  Partner with talent leaders (Learning, Performance, talent acquisition, talent management) to identify and manage bias in the talent management process.  Design policies and practices that promote equity in the talent pipeline
  • Conduct  Change Management efforts that embed diversity thinking, metrics and practices in talent and HR policies and practices
  •  Leverage facilitaive, collaboraive leadership approach to align HR, Talent, business leaders with innovative  work plans
  •  Develop innovative talent acquisition sourcing strategies aimed at recruiting and retaining under represented talent.  Consult and partner with HR, Talent Acquisition and function business leaders to implement tactics to engage diverse talent pools.  
  •  Partner with external organizations to develop tactics to improve diversity in U.S. Cellular’s applicant pool.  Support outreach tactics to better recruit in compliance with government regulations (Section 503, VEVVRA).
  •  Deliver tactics and develop programs that support U.S. Cellular’s internship and college recruiting efforts. 
  • Build, leverage and assess U.S. Cellular’s partnerships with college student and professional organizations that support under represented student populations
  • Build internal partnerships with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Business leaders to ensure continued progress toward Diversity and Inclusion and HR Strategic objectives

 Bachelor degree in related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred

  •  7-10  years of Diversity and Inclusion or HR (Business Partnership, Talent Management, Learning and Development or Organization Development) Experience is required Integrative thinker who builds cross functional/departmental project teams
  • Experience in talent management tactics (talent acquisition, succession management, performance management) preferred
  • Experience communicating talent metrics, diversity metrics and U.S.marketplace demographics
  • Strong project management and project leadership required 
  • Demonstrated skill in influencing without formal authority
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Diversity and Inclusion
  • Ability to scope, organize and manage projects that require change management
  • Involvement with community organizations, professional organizations and diversity outreach activities a plus
