Full time Management Retail Sales

Job Description

Provide focused retail operational consulting while developing pro-active partnerships to become the Retailers/Members' 'Trusted Advisor' in all aspects of their business. Grow sales, Increase retail assortment and Destination True Value (DTV) adoption, Increase the retail sales and profitability of each Retailer's location as well as maintain and upgrade the True Value brand in desired markets. Additionally, the Retail Consultant (RC) has responsibility of being the Retailer's voice to merchandising, distribution, and Retail Support Center (RSC) associates. The Retail Consultant can reside in Milwaukee, Madison, Pewaukee, or the surrounding area with the assigned territory being Wisconsin with approximately 30 - 35 Retailers/Members. Wholesales sales for the territory is approximately $22 million.

Position Description 

  • Conduct regular business reviews with Retailers in the territory to analyze current store sales and profitability. Develop and assist in the execution of action plans that identify specific measurable actions to improve the ongoing retail operations of the Retailer’s location
  • These activities would include but are not limited to sales growth, marketing/advertising, merchandise assortments, financial and margin management, inventory productivity, retail best practices, store layout, Point of Sales (POS) sales analysis and action steps resulting in increased share of wallet (SOW)
  • Collaborate with Regional Managers, Retail Business Managers, Business Development Consultants and Retail Implementation Specialists regarding all store expansions/remodels, relocations, branch stores, investors and conversions
  • Collaborate with Regional Managers and Retail Business Managers to develop and implement Retailer specific retention plans for Retailers in markets that the co-op deem desirable
  • Lead and facilitate the development and implementation, centered around the appropriate Destination True Value (DTV) assortment, for each retail location. Provide each Retailer with product knowledge, programs, services and benchmarks related to same

Position Qualifications 

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:

  • Five to seven years of consultative sales experience
  • Knowledge of hardware industry preferred but not required

Other Industry/Discipline Experience:

  • Retail experience required
  • Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain experience desirable
  • Familiarity with P&L statements; balance sheets; retail operations
  • Strong sales ability
  • Problem solving and time management skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong customer (client) servicing skills
  • Valid driver's license (good driving record)
  • Ability to travel extensively (50-75%)
  • Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and preferably PowerPoint Important Decisions/Judgments:

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
