Job Description

The Financial Analyst, Community Investments, is responsible for underwriting new investment opportunities and managing a portfolio of public welfare investments.    Community Investments supports the BMO Harris Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) objectives by making qualified public welfare investments.    Typical investments include private equity funds, tax credit funds, and loan pool investments.  Community Investments, within the Corporate Finance line of Business, manages investments with a total of $600MM in authorizations. Analyst will be assigned 40-50 investments to manage and will work with Associates, Vice Presidents, and Managing Directors to learn the business.     

  • Ensure accuracy of financial analysis and due diligence
  • Ensure adherence to financing guidelines
  • Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of  legal agreements
  • Develop credit information for use by commercial relationship managers in making investment decisions
  • Prepare and analyze spreadsheets, financial information, financial statements and related material
  • Produce a variety of reports used to assess credit information such as annual reviews and investment transaction summaries (ITS).  
  • Prepare summary, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.

Cross functional relationships include: ERPM Credit, Legal, Tax, CRA Governance and Community Development Lending

  Qualifications   Knowledge and Skills:  

  • Formalized credit training required with at least two years of underwriting experience
  • One to four years of relevant corporate finance, commercial lending, accounting or due diligence experience, preferably in a bank, finance company or accounting firm environment
  • An undergraduate degree is required
  • Solid financial analysis, research and business due diligence skills
  • Self motivated with a history of meeting and exceeding goals
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player
