Job Description

The Chicago Bulls are searching for a Mobile Strategist to help the Bulls stay relevant in a rapidly evolving fan landscape, and to establish the team as a trailblazer in the mobile space. In addition to being one of the sports teams with the largest worldwide following, the Bulls have established ourselves as an innovative and respected team in the digital space, and we are looking for someone who wants to continue to help us push boundaries and grow our commitment to mobile.  
For the Mobile Strategist role, we’re looking for someone to come in and help take our App (and potential future non-app mobile experiences) to the next level. We know that our fanbase sees their mobile devices as a core part of their personal lives, and we want to make sure that we’re offering them features & functionality that feels native to mobile, adds value to their experiences with the Bulls (both physical and virtual) and ultimately makes them bigger Bulls fans.
 
This role is not a developer role. We have partnerships with software companies who do the coding, but this person would manage their work, their priorities and ultimately own our mobile experiences so we want someone has strong opinions on what makes great mobile experiences. This role is best suited for a creative problem solver, who has an analytical approach to innovation and who is excited about the idea of helping to create amazing mobile experiences for Bulls fans. 
 
This role sits on the Bulls Product team, reporting into the Senior Manager, Product. 
 
Job Responsibilities:
Mobile is becoming a bigger and bigger priority for the Bulls, and it will be this individual’s responsibility to understand what opportunities exist for the Bulls (and Bulls fans) in the mobile space, prioritize which opportunities to bring to life, and then manage the implementation and adoption of these features. 
 
The individual will oversee our app, and the continued evolution of the app away from being primarily content focused into being a more segmented, personalized & feature-orientated app. To do so, the right candidate will have to build & manage cross functional relationships, primarily with our marketing, partnerships, ticketing and business strategy & analytics teams, as well as with our partners at the United Center.
 
Ultimately the role is about maximizing the impact that mobile can make on Bulls fans - whether they are watching videos of their favorite player from an overseas country, or trying to order a drink at the United Center.
 
More specifically, you will be responsible for the following: 
  • Own our mobile app roadmap from conceptualization through to execution, including managing the on-going transition of the app from ‘one-size-fits-all’ to a more segmented & personalized experience
  • Ensure that the ‘voice-of-the-fan’ is heard in planning for the app - balancing the organization’s priorities with what our fans want to see implemented
  • Ensure that the Season Ticket Holder Portal within the application is always up to date, and is focused on driving value (through unique experiences, content or benefits) for our Season Ticket Holder base
  • Oversee our ‘Arena Mode’ feature & continue to develop the app as a key-part of the United Center experience based on fan feedback, usage & iteration. 
  • Work closely with the United Center Technology team on any in-arena technology integrations, such as mobile food & beverage ordering and any POS integrations 
  • Own all ‘features’ within the app, ensuring driving traffic to them, tracking engagement levels & adjusting accordingly
  • Look to increase monetization possibilities within the app, primarily through corporate partnership, ticketing or merchandise focused initiatives
  • Ensure App offers increased utility & functionality to encourage usage and ultimate increase Bulls fandom
  • Work closely with Business Strategy & Analytics team on understanding how the app can play a key role in our fan data strategy
  • Educate our Corporate Partnership team on App roadmaps & strategies and ensure that the team is aware of partnership opportunities that exist within the app.

In addition, the following qualifications will increase the strength of your application:
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a related role
  • Experience utilizing first & third party research to build & prioritize road maps
  • Experience managing technology integrations 
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Highly organized and strong time management abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
  • Works effectively and quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Initiative and dedication to challenge self and continually strive for improvement
Note that this role requires flexible work hours and will include work outside of normal office hours during the business week and on weekends.
