Are you seeking a leadership opportunity within a mission-critical team that is core to the business' success? We (Expedia Global Payment team) are looking for a software engineering manager to lead our partner experience team and build the next generation partner interaction platform. As a manager of the Payment Partner Experience team, you will be leading an engineering team to develop, test, support, and operate state of the art on payments technology and cutting edge payment methods for the vacation rental marketplace. You be helping build and maintain services and APIs in Java with technologies like Jetty, RabbitMQ, Spring, Dropwizard, Kafka, React.js and etc. You will be working with APIs from various vendors for processing payments and securely storing payment sensitive data. You will also work in building next generation serverless architecture using AWS technologies. You’ll work with a motivated, fast paced agile team and interact directly with customers, product management, and leadership!

 What you’ll do

  • Work closely with technical leaders, business partners and product managers to define and articulate technical requirements, communicate status, risks with resolution plan, upcoming milestones, and recent releases.
  • Participate in and lead design and architecture reviews. Build and maintain a long-term vision and technical roadmap, as well as work under timelines to keep key initiatives on schedule.
  • Lead the agile software development phases of various projects, drive roadmap execution, provide technical direction for the project(s) while planning for new ones
  • Coordinate with team to define the measures of success for process improvements
  • Partner with the business to have a clear understanding of how the technology stack is tied to business outcomes and our bottom line
  • Identify areas of improvement within the code and suggests solutions
  • Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability)
  • Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them
  • Bridge the gap in discussions between technology and non-technology personnel
  • Report on team status faithfully and listen for suggestions to improve lagging project work

Who you are:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading development teams, combined with a minimum of 8 years hands-on experience in software engineering on global development teams
  • Hands-on experience with development in AWS, Spring Boot, Node JS, React
  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and mentoring skills and an ability to optimally grow, develop and empower teams.
  • Ability to look at solutions in creative ways, recognizing opportunities to innovate and drive business results
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on employee experience
  • Attitude towards automation and scalability
