News Assignment Editor, Telemundo Chicago

Responsibilities

• Monitor news sources, scanners, digital media to stay informed and develop news stories and ideas
• Make calls to gather information and book some interviews
• Develop and maintain plan for news stories and future planning   
• Provide assistance to reporters and producers in gathering story elements and contacts
• Dispatch field crews and assist them with needed elements throughout the day
• Gather information from various sources to provide to producers and reporters
• Contribute content to digital platforms
   

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience working on a television News Assignment Desk
• Previous work experience requiring excellent organizational and research skills.
• Experience providing content contributions for digital platforms
• BS/BA degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or related field
• Able to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English
• This position is a NABET union-represented job. Hired candidate will be required to join the NABET union upon employment if not already a member
