The Cause Marketing Director identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits and stewards current and prospective donors in partnership with field philanthropy officers. Expands donor financial support to the American Red Cross through the philanthropy and marketing arms of corporate partners. Provides significant national support for major asks. Responsible for growing an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to enhance Cause Marketing revenue growth. Assist donors in creating meaning in their lives and institutional philanthropy through giving to the American Red Cross. Reports to Sr. Director, Cause Marketing Office.
Portfolio development/management: Implements overall fundraising strategy for assigned donor portfolio in collaboration with field philanthropy officers. Accounts typically include: a) Corporate; b) 6-7 figure donor opportunities; c) custom complex donor solicitation that cross region, division and/or national boundaries. Analyzes information about potential contributors for growth. Makes decisions about which companies to target as donors.
Fundraising initiative growth: Builds capacity to identify, cultivate and solicit donors by providing subject matter expertise as it pertains cause marketing, e-gaming/sports program support.
Funds solicitation: Directly participates in the solicitation of funds from high-level contributors. Responsible for portfolio with target of $3M+.
Staff Management: Is an individual contributor – providing guidance and expertise to development teams locally and nationally.
Scope: Interfaces with Executive Leadership. Collaborates on shared goals with DPO/BDD/RPO and is considered top expert in the field.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of business, sales, marketing related experience required. Minimum of 7-10 years fundraising or sales experience, especially in a large organization. Must have successful track record in solicitation of large revenue accounts. Strong team player who has a collaborative style and builds trust and respect. Excellent verbal and written skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary and experience with a CRM (Salesforce) is highly preferred. Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and 25% of business travel are required.
