Responsibilities

WSNS-TV, Telemundo Chicago, NBCUniversal, is a Spanish language TV station, is in one of the top markets in the country and we are looking for a dynamic, thorough, dedicated Meteorologist to anchor and produce weather segments across all content platforms, report other lifestyle and human-interest stories and contribute to various newsroom projects.
 
JOB DUTIES:

  • Gather and prepare weather information for on-air presentation during newscasts and other content platforms.
  • Provide creative ideas to showcase the weather segment in an informative and compelling manner
  • Employ strategy and engagement in digital media including sending severe weather alerts/warnings
  • Conduct interviews for lifestyle, human interest segments and special programming in a creative and forward-thinking manner
  • Will need to be available to report to work for all severe weather situations

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a broadcast TV Meteorologist, weather anchor or
    news reporter
  • Must have completed AMS, CBM, or NWA seal of approval or already be enrolled in classes for any such certification or a degree in a related field
  • Must have working knowledge of computer graphics systems such as: WSI, Barons or Accuweather
  • Proven experience using forecasting tools including Doppler Radar and Satellite Maps
  • Must be completely fluent in Spanish and have proven excellent written and spoken Spanish-language skills
  • Proven ability to ad-lib effortlessly on-air while under pressure during weather breaking news and during newscasts
