Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Associate is responsible for assisting the CNO in planning, organizing, directing and managing nursing resources for the hospital on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. These responsibilities include assisting the CNO with: budget responsibilities; efficient/effective resource utilization; achieving quality outcomes; performance improvement; monitoring of quality and quantity of services; purchasing and maintaining equipment and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, physicians and departmental managers and directors.
MISSION: Assists the CNO to direct the development and implementation of Regional philosophy and objectives and assures they are congruent with the Trinity Health mission, values, and strategic plan. Comprehends, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, and values in leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions. Supports and endorses senior leadership goals, objectives, strategies, and decisions. Demonstrates that providing an excellent service for patients, visitors, and colleagues across the Region is the focal point of decision making.
PLANNING: In consultation with the professional nursing staff of Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Corporate Officers and members of the Medical Staff, assists the CNO in formulating short-term goals, long-term goals, a fiscally responsible budgeting process and the establishment of staffing needs and productivity standards designed to provide maximal patient care while responsibly containing costs.
OPERATIONS: Working with the CNO, facilitates an environment where quality of care is provided to patients. In cooperation with the Corporate Officers, Medical Staff, appropriate committees and representatives of other hospital departments, assists the CNO with evaluating and directing the quality of patient care provided by the hospital. Assists the CNO in ensuring that nursing services fulfill the requirements of regulatory standards established by administrative, governmental and insuring agencies.
TALENT MANAGEMENT: Assist the CNO in the design and establishment of appropriate management control procedures for nursing services including record maintenance, authorization procedures and recurring reports. Reviews records and reports and, when necessary, initiates corrective actions, requests special analyses and/or changes control procedures.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT: Assists the CNO in the design of standards of nursing care and quality assurance/quality improvement programs for nursing services. Remains abreast of advances in the areas of healthcare technology, informatics and evaluates the effects of this new technology on nursing practices. In consultation with the CNO, incorporates technological developments into the nursing practice plan when practical and cost effective.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: May be asked by the CNO to describe the financial performance of the nursing departments or division to Corporate Officers regarding the monthly budgeting variances..
