Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is seeking an experienced leader to oversee a highly complex surgical services department. Candidates should have experience in process improvement as well as change management. The ideal candidate is collaborative and comfortable managing multiple constituents across a highly matrixed organization. This position partners closely with the Vice President of Surgical and Diagnostic Services and interfaces regularly with key physician partners in surgery and anesthesiology. Additionally, the Director of Surgical Services will lead an experienced team of managers, and therefore a proven history of building effective teams is highly important. The Director, Surgical Services will be responsible for the direction, planning and evaluation of the delivery, management and overall operation of patient care services provided across the surgical services enterprise. The incumbent will assure adherence to quality and safety standards of nursing practice through AORN and internal designations, according to Joint Commission, UNOS, ACS and other regulatory agency requirements related to surgical services and procedural activity. The impactful leader will Interpret and utilize data which will help set a tone of objective decision making as well as provide direction, counsel and support to assigned managers to promote the highest level of quality care for patients. Together with other department directors, the Director, Surgical Services actively participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and programs. Licensed health care professional in the State of Wisconsin required; RN or Physician Assistant preferred. Master's degree required; preference for Master's in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Nursing or Public Health and Policy . 5 years of experience in OR management or administration at a facility with greater than 10,000 cases per year. Experience in a teaching hospital preferred; pediatric setting desirable. Knowledge of organization, operation and coordination of Surgical Services. In-depth and current knowledge of patient care theories and practices. Demonstrated ability to contribute to overall administration. Prior experience leading successful change in a Surgical Services setting. Demonstrated ability to interpret and utilize data thus helping set a tone of objective decision making. Well developed interpersonal skills to provide effective leadership to staff. Analytical abilities necessary to evaluate delivery of care systems and nursing results critically; respond to deficiencies by identifying and implementing corrective actions; develop and administer policies, procedures and budgets; and organize and oversee work of a variety of managerial, supervisory, professional and support employees.
